Girls

This morning the kids and I were lounging at The Coffee Bean (rather than our 1st favorite coffee shop, Sola, as to not interrupt the daddy).

Kate (age 7) comments to me:

"My ideal outfit mom is a side pony, a black strapless dress & high-heels. Oh, and lot's of make-up!"

Which is kind of funny to me since her hair is too short to fit into a side pony, she owns nothing strapless or high-heels.

She's my one who spends the most amount of time looking at herself in the mirror, picking out her clothes (most worn item of clothing is her denim "mini" skirt) and fixing her hair. She will fix & re-fix her hair all day if I would let her, typically adorning it with some sort of large flower or bow to the side. She loves to be showered, lotioned & coordinates her clip-on earrings to match her pajamas.

She and I talk a lot about idolatry & what an appropriate amount of time is to spend on yourself, "primping." We talk about how Satan was the most beautiful angel of all and how pride & his self-love was the ultimate cause of his fall (Ezekiel 28:17).

She listens & makes good attempts to self-monitor. What else could I ask for? :)

I sense a lot of these type of conversations in my future with 2+ little girls in the house! Bring it on!!! :)
