Just one of THOSE days...

At my last OB appointment my doctor said he wanted me to go in for a sonogram. He has referred to my "advanced maternal age" (which is technically not until SEPTEMBER) several times & suggested some possible extra tests if I am interested. Ummm, no thank you! But no pregnant girl EVER turns down an opportunity to see her baby on that black & white screen! So I immediately walked across the breezeway of the medical center into Scottsdale Medical Imaging Lab and scheduled my appointment. It was for today at 11:15 am.

I was exactly this far along when we found out Hud was a boy last time. So I knew there was a chance that even though I'm only almost 15 weeks, we could find out!!!

We went to pick up Kate from school & Anne met us there. We were right on time @ 11:15am. It was a family affair - all 6 of us! I drank my 48 oz. of water as instructed and sat in that waiting room in a lot of pain...but pain that could be well worth it! At 11:50 (that's 35 minutes later) a VERY rude lady called my name and told me that they did not have me scheduled for an appt. I was not on the list at all that day. Or any other day!!! But wait, I walked in here myself, sat in THAT chair and made my appointment 10 days ago. She implied that I had not done that. She said that they had me down as a "no show" 10 days a go at 3:15 pm. NOOOO! That's the exact day & time I came in to SCHEDULE the appointment. But whatever! She made a phone call and got me at a similar place down the street.

I had to go to the bathroom worse in that moment than ever before in my life! So I asked Heath & Anne to gather all our stuff & kids in the waiting room and meet me in the car. They didn't hear the "in the car" part. We lost each other for a few minutes. It was a little stressful.

But we found each other and made our way over to the other office. I went to the bathroom there and drank 3 more water bottles immediately for my new appt. Waited another 40 minutes. They finally called me back and told me I had to go by myself. What??? We always ALL go back together - but at this point, who cares?!!! Let's just get this over so I can pee please!!! So I go back to the sonogram room. She tells me that she's never had someone ask to bring their entire family back for a pelvic sono before. I just explained that the kids are really excited to see the baby. To which she responded, "what baby, you're not pregnant?!"

Well actually, yes I am.

She was confused. Said that wasn't in my paper work and that I would have to go back to the waiting room (for the THIRD time that day) to fill out more paper work! By now, it's been a full 2 hours since we arrived at my first appointment. UGH!!!

They told me to come back in an hour at 2pm. So we all went to Quizzno's for lunch, took Kate back to school and Anne took Hud & Natalie home. Heath and I went back. They got me in this time. That sweet girl took measured & took pictures of my baby for the next 40 minutes. Since I had just eaten, the baby was very active which was fun to see - except we never got to see what we were looking for. :( It's legs were crossed & she was pretty positive that it was too early to tell. But at this point we're pretty convinced that if it is a boy it would have been more obvious.

So we will wait a few more weeks, discuss girl names and check in again.

Well...that seems even more complicated than dealing with Dr. Doom!
